Have troubles editing MOV file with Hitfilm 3/4? Solution here

Although it is officially stated that MOV is supported by HitFilm, when you tried to do some editing the MOV videos with HitFilm 3/4, you’re prompted an error message on your screen saying that the video files is unsupported:

"I recently downloaded hitfilm 3 express and i am unable to import .MOV files to use. I'm not even sure why the videos are in .MOV format because just last week when I exported videos from my camera they were .MP4 files. How can I convert the files to .MP4 without changing the quality? Better yet, how can i make it so the files are automatically in .MP4 files?"

"I'm having trouble with importing .MOV file into HitFilm 4 Express in a window 7 pc. Every time I try to import a .MOV file, it will ask me to install QuickTime, which I did not install the software because I found out that it is for mac, maybe? so is there  any other solution?"
